Brunklaus designed a set of wall lights on the inside of the portraits of Cornelis de Graeff and Catharina Hooft. Cornelius de Graeff was a popular mayor of Amsterdam in the 17th century and married Catharina Hooft, a granddaughter of the famous writer PC Hooft. Historical persons who also can be seen in the Rijksmuseum.

These lights have an oval white screen with the image on the inside of Cornelis and Catharina. Once the light turns on, the portraits appear as silhouettes on the outside.

Product Description

Catharina Hooft originated from a wealthy Dutch governors and also artistically minded dynasty from the Golden Age. She was the grand daughter of the famous 17th. century poet Pieter Cornelisz. As an 18 year old girl she married Cornelis de Graeff who was a beloved major of Amsterdam, viceroy and maecenas . This beautiful portrait in black and white shows Catharina, wearing a precious dress from the finest silk trimmed with precious white lace as an expressive example of the prosperous Dutch the Golden Age. The two portraits of Catharina and Cornelis were made specially made for their wedding.
